Tuesday 19th November 2024 was a day to remember in Egbaland as prominent leaders of the cradle of civilisation gathered to celebrate their paramount ruler, His Royal Majesty, Kabiyesi Oba Dr. Michael Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo CFR Okukenu IV who was marking his 19th year coronation anniversary.

Notable personalities in attendance were the Osile of Oke-Ona Egba His Royal Majesty, Oba Dr. Oba Adedapo Adewale Tejuoso; former Nigerian High Commissioner in the United Kingdom, Ambassador Sarafa Tunji Isola; the General Overseer of Latter Rain Assembly Church, Pastor Tunde Bakare; Omooba Dr. Adedoyin Yemisi Shyllon, Prof. Chris Funke Ifeta (nee Renner) among others.

Ambassador Sarafa Tunji Isola OFR in a message marking the epoc making occasion praised the Alake’s transformative leadership, highlighting his commitment to education, healthcare, and economic development.
“Your Majesty’s reign has been marked by wisdom, compassion, and unwavering dedication to the people of Egbaland,” he enthused.
A major part of the activities marking the 19th coronation anniversary was the unveiling of Sodeke’s statue. Olubiyi Akinrinlewo Sodeke was the revered hero and
leader who led the Egba people into Abeokuta, now capital of Ogun State.
There was also a thanksgiving service at the Alake’s Chapel.
Ambassador Isola said the programs lined up for the 19th coronation anniversary of the Egba monarch underscored the importance of honoring heritage while embracing progress.
He noted that “As Egbaland celebrates this milestone, we honour not only the Alake’s remarkable leadership but also the heroes who paved the way. Sodeke’s legacy continues to inspire, and Kabiyesi’s reign serves as a beacon of hope for a brighter future.”
