Thousands of former members and leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and African Democratic Congress (ADC) from the nine local government areas of Ogun East Senatorial District have joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) at a massive reception held in Ijebu-Ode.
The large turnout at the event was described as a strong indication of the growing acceptance of the APC and confidence in the leadership and developmental direction of the Ogun State Government.
Welcoming the new entrants into the party, Governor Prince Dr. Dapo Abiodun – MFR assured them that they were now part of the APC family and would be accorded equal opportunities with existing members.
He urged the new members to return to their respective wards and communities and contribute actively to the party’s grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Abiodun said the growing support for the APC across Ogun East was strengthened by the administration’s record of infrastructure and economic development in the senatorial district.
He highlighted the construction and rehabilitation of more than 100 roads, the Gateway International Airport and other major projects, while noting that work is also progressing on strategic initiatives including the Olokola Deep Sea Port, the Olokola-Kajola Gas Industrial Free Zone and oil exploration activities in Ogun Waterside.
The governor further disclosed that the reconstruction of the Ago-Iwoye–Ibadan Road would be flagged off on Monday in collaboration with the Federal Government, describing the project as another major intervention secured with the support of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu
He expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for his continued support for Ogun State, particularly in the areas of infrastructure and economic development.
As the 2027 elections draw closer, Governor Abiodun said the APC would remain focused on delivering more projects, strengthening its grassroots structures and uniting members across the state.
He expressed confidence that the party’s performance, expanding membership and growing support would translate into victory for the APC at all levels in the 2027 elections.
From development to mobilisation, Ogun APC is steadily expanding its political base as 2027 approaches.
