Two siblings schooling in Ilorin have brought pride to Kwara State after clinching first place in their respective categories at the Annual National Mathematics Olympiad Competition organised by the Mathematical Association of Nigeria (MAN).
Oladiran Daniel of Hillcity Schools, Tanke, Ilorin, emerged first in the Primary School Category, while his sister, Oladiran Mary of Chapel Secondary School, Ilorin, secured first place in the Junior Secondary School Category at the competition held in Osogbo, Osun State.
Announcing their achievement, the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr Lawal Olohungbebe, said he hosted the champions alongside their parents and members of MAN’s local chapter in his office on behalf of the Kwara State Government.
The commissioner described their success as an extraordinary accomplishment and a source of immense pride for their family, schools and the entire state.
“Their achievement demonstrates what is possible when talent, hard work, parental support and quality education come together,” he said.
Olohungbebe reaffirmed the commitment of the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to encouraging and celebrating outstanding young people, particularly those excelling in Mathematics, Science and other STEM fields.
