The Nigerian Institute of Journalism Alumni Association (NIJAA) has commenced the registration of its Global Alumni Directory, a strategic initiative aimed at reconnecting graduates of the institution across Nigeria and the Diaspora and building a credible and verified database of its members.
The announcement was contained in a press statement issued by the National Publicity Secretary Comrade Mark Akhuetie, explaining that the initiative is part of the new administration’s commitment to strengthening alumni engagement, professional networking, mentorship, welfare, recognition and meaningful support for the Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ).
The statement stated that the President of the body Mr. Muyiwa Akintunde, described the initiative as a foundational step in repositioning the association as a truly connected global alumni community.
He said the administration was determined to identify and reconnect Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ) alumni wherever they may be, noting that a comprehensive and credible directory would provide the foundation for more effective engagement and enable the Association to better deploy the collective strength of its membership.
The statement added that the directory will also help the alumni association to identify and harness the wealth of professional experience, expertise and networks within its alumni community for the benefit of members and the alma mater.
The announcement emphasized that all Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ) alumni who are yet to register are encouraged to participate and ensure that their information is captured on or before October 12, 2026.
‘The Association is particularly calling on alumni in the Diaspora and those who may have lost contact with NIJAA or their former classmates to reconnect through the Association’s recognised communication channels’ Akhuetie wrote.
‘NIJAA also urges registered members to help reach colleagues and classmates who may not yet be aware of the initiative. Every alumnus matters. Wherever you may be in the world, NIJAA remains your alumni family, and we want to reconnect with you’, he said.
‘The Association believes that knowing who its members are, where they are and what they bring to the table is an essential foundation for building a stronger, more connected and impactful alumni community’, the statement added.
