The Ogun State All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the 2027 election, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has warned members of the public against a fraudulent online scheme falsely claiming that he is offering financial grants of N20,000 and N30,000.
Adeola, who chairs the Senate Committee on Appropriations, said he was not involved in any such grant programme, describing the online offers as fraudulent schemes designed by unscrupulous individuals to exploit his popularity and track record of empowerment initiatives.
The warning was contained in a statement issued on Thursday, November 5, 2026, by his Media Adviser and Chairman of the Media and Publicity Committee of the Ogun APC Presidential and Gubernatorial Campaign Council, Chief Kayode Odunaro.
According to the statement, fraudsters are using the senator’s reputation and his longstanding commitment to empowerment programmes and financial assistance to deceive unsuspecting members of the public.
“For the record, the Senator is not engaged in any such scheme, and fraudsters are merely cashing in on his popularity and established penchant for various kinds of empowerment and grants over the years,” the statement said.
The senator’s office explained that Adeola has established procedures for identifying and selecting beneficiaries of his empowerment programmes and grants, stressing that he would never request individuals to submit their personal information through online links.
It therefore cautioned members of the public against clicking on suspicious links or providing personal details in response to messages circulating on social media platforms in the senator’s name.
The statement further warned that anyone who discloses personal information through such fraudulent links does so at their own risk, adding that the senator should not be held responsible for any losses arising from such disclosures.
The senator’s office urged members of the public to remain vigilant and disregard any online offer claiming that Adeola is distributing N20,000 or N30,000 grants through unofficial channels.
It also called on residents of Ogun State and Nigerians generally not to fall victim to scammers seeking to exploit the senator’s public profile ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
