Akume, Oloyede, others honoured with Lifetime Achievement Award by Daily Sun

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume; the Registrar of JAMB, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede; former Governor of Sokoto, Senator Aliyu Wamakko; environmentalist Annkio Briggs; and business mogul Chief Joseph Ezeokafor were on Saturday, March 1, 2025, honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award by Sun Publishing Limited, the publishers of Daily Sun, Saturday Sun, Sunday Sun, and Sporting Sun.

The Sun Award 2024 ceremony, attended by governors, ministers, federal and state lawmakers, business leaders, members of the diplomatic corps, royal figures, and celebrities, took place at the Expo Convention Centre, Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The event recognized 36 Nigerians with various awards for their outstanding contributions.

The event was chaired by Dr. Abdulahi Ganduje, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former Governor of Kano State, alongside Amb. Bianca Ojukwu, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs. Both leaders congratulated the award recipients, emphasizing the significance of the honour from a reputable newspaper like The Sun and encouraging them to view it as a motivation to enhance their contributions to society.

Mr. Onuoha Ukeh, Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief, stated that the awards were intended to acknowledge the remarkable achievements of the recipients in their respective fields throughout 2024. He emphasized that the goal of the awards was to inspire recipients to further their service to humanity.

Among the distinguished recipients were Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, Niger State Governor, Mohammed Bago and Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, who were recognized as Governors of the Year. Additionally, Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo received the Political Personality of the Year Award.

Accompanying the JAMB Registrar at the event were several notable figures, including Prof. Ishaya Tanko, Vice Chancellor of the University of Jos; Mr. Mohammed Ahmed Babaji, Director of Admissions; Mrs. Susan Theophilus, Deputy Director of the Registrar’s Office; and various other members of the JAMB team, including Mr. Dami Bamiro, Alhaji Najeem Jimoh, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, Mrs. Virginia Ella, and Mrs. Shalewa Adetimahin.
