Ahead of the 2025 Mock-UTME and the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has conducted a trial test of its Examination Delivery Software (EDS). The test took place on Thursday, 27th February, 2025, at the JAMB Professional Test Centre (PTC) Kogo.

In a memo earlier signed by the Director, Information Technology Services (ITS), Mrs. Funmi B-Usman, which also featured names of  nominated participants from each of the Departments, the importance of the trial test was stressed and participating staff were enjoined to rigorously engage the system.

Also, the JAMB IT Consultant, Mr Damilola Bamiro, in his remarks before the commencement of the trial test,  said the exercise was to test the Board’s preparations for the 2025 UTME as well as critically assess some of the newly-introduced features in line with global best practices.

During the exercise, staff were instructed to pay attention to specific features, read instructions, while assessing the impact of font size, screen calibration, power cuts (if any) and continuity of test time after unexpected disruption, among other details.

In a chat with JAMbulletin shortly after the brainstorming exercise, Mr. Bamiro pointed out that the Board had been able to harvest relevant information on some of these new features and is set for the 2025 UTME.

Bamiro, who scored the success rate high, said the little areas of concern would be promptly addressed adding that the Board had received quality feedback from the exercise.

Furthermore, he disclosed that a trial test is critical to the overall success of any examination. He stated that by testing on a smaller scale, issues like design flaws, confusing instructions, or other problematic features that might not be apparent during initial development would be  targeted for adjustments before widespread use.

In the same vein, the software designer, Morgen Green, represented by Mr. Temitope Ahmed, said the exercise was a simulation of the upcoming 2025 UTME and reiterated the determination of the company to give its best.
