Yobe Gov. applauds new book on pension management

Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni has described the recently unveiled book on pension administration as a timely and insightful contribution to the sub-sector in Nigeria.

The Governor spoke at the launch ceremony, held at the Merit House Auditorium, Maitama, Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

Governor Buni who was represented by the State’s Head of Civil Service, Alhaji Hamidu Alhaji, lauded the book’s author, Dr. Imran Saheed Adekunle for his spirited and painstaking efforts – which made the publication a reality.

The new specialised publication is titled:“Understanding Pension Administration and Management in the Contemporary World”.

Buni emphasized the book’s relevance to both government and private sectors in uplifting the lives of retirees and enriching the public’s knowledge of the crucial financial sub-sector.

Governor Buni’s attendance as the Special Guest of Honour underscored his record for championing worker-friendly policies.

His administration has become synonymous with prompt payment of salaries and pensions, comprehensive welfare packages for workers and pensioners, and consistent training, as well as retraining of the workforce.

The efforts the aide stated, have earned Buni accolades as the leader of one of Nigeria’s most vibrant and worker-friendly states.

As a way to show appreciation, Governor Buni purchased 50 copies of the book for five million Naira (N5,000,000).

The gesture, according to his representative, not only reaffirms Buni’s commitment to knowledge-sharing, but also highlights his dedication to advancing policies that prioritize the welfare of workers and pensioners.

Speaking, the Chairman of the launch ceremony, Ahmed Raji, SAN, urged the Pension Regulator, as well as Pension Fund Operators and Pension Fund Custodians to do more in alleviating the plight of retirees in the country.

The senior Legal luminary subsequently launched the book, purchasing 100 copies, for N1 million, while another sum of N1 million was pledged as a way of encouraging the author to research more in the area of Pension Administration and Management for the betterment of active and retired employees in the country.
