PRESS RELEASE

Fasting Muslims: Pray for Peaceful transfer of Power

The Ummah Movement, with headquarters at the National Islamic Centre (NIC), Dogarawa, Zaria, congratulates the over one hundred and fifty million Muslims in Nigeria who, together with their over 1.6 billion brethren all over the world, are in the last ten days and the peak of their spiritual devotions in the holy month of Ramadan.

We urge them to earnestly pray for national economic prosperity, peace and security, fruitful rainy season, and particularly the peaceful transfer of power to the President-elect, Alhaji Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his Vice President-elect Alhaji Kashim Shettima.

Let us all sincerely beseech the Merciful Lord to Guide them to implement policies that will ease the hardship in the land and bless Nigeria with abundance and return to prosperity.

While congratulating the outgoing administration of President Muhammad Buhari for being an impartial umpire in the recent national elections, we strongly urge it to fish out and prosecute all those advocating the idea of an interim government.

We strongly condemn it, as an option deliberately imported by the enemies of Nigeria, to create chaos and confusion in the land and against the national consensus of a constitutional order. Muslims will not tolerate a second June 12 and will vehemently resist any interim contraption through all lawful means.

We urge fellow Muslims in this holy month to also pray, for the peaceful resolution of the sad conflict in the Sudan. We humbly pray to Allah, The Most Merciful, to give succor to the prosecuted Muslims in Myanmar (Rohingya), China (Uygur), India (Kashmir) and the Palestinian victims of Israeli aggression and apartheid in the West Bank and other occupied territories.

Prof. Muhammad  Babangida
National Amir, NIC.
