Troops rescue 10 abducted NECO candidates in Borno

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have successfully rescued 10 National Examinations Council (NECO) candidates and teachers who were abducted during a terrorist attack on the Technical Secondary School, Lassa, in Askira/Uba Local Government Area of Borno State.

The victims were kidnapped on Monday while writing their examination after suspected ISWAP terrorists invaded the community. Acting swiftly, the military launched a coordinated search-and-rescue operation, deploying both ground forces and air assets to track the fleeing terrorists.

Following a fierce gun battle around the Daggu axis, the troops overpowered the attackers, rescued the victims unharmed and recovered seven motorcycles used by the terrorists in their escape. Operations are still ongoing to locate and rescue the remaining abducted victim while efforts continue to track down those responsible.

The operation however claimed the lives of one  soldier and a member of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF).

The military has since reinforced security across the affected communities and assured residents that sustained operations will continue until terrorist elements operating within the area are completely dismantled.
