National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has won presidential ticket of the party for the 2023 general elections.
Tinubu defeated 13 other contenders to emerge the flag bearer of the party at the Special National Convention of the party in Abuja on Wednesday.
He has has crossed the threshold of victory with more than 60% of the total expected votes already counted in his favour.
As at the last count, Tinubu had scored 1,013 votes while the closest to him is Transport Minister, Rotimi Amaechi who polled 212.Vice President Yemi Osinbajo polled 155 votes. Others are Senate President Ahmed Lawan (79); Yahaya Bello (25); Ben Ayade (14); Dave Umahi (10); Ahmed Sani (2); Ahmed Sani Yerima (1), Pastor Tunde Bakare (0).
There were 8 voided votes at the time of filing this report.
About 2,322 delegates from across the country had stormed Eagles Square to elect the flag bearer of the party ahead of the 2023 general elections.
