Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau I. Jibrin has commended the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof Is-haq Oloyede for his transparency in running the affairs of the agency.
Senator Jibrin who gave the commendation on Thursday in Abuja at the Fourth Edition of the JAMB National Tertiary Admissions Performance-Merit Award(NATAP-M Award) also commended the JAMB Registrar for the many innovative steps he has taken since he assumed the leadership of the Board.
The Deputy Senate President was the Special Guest of Honour at the event.
He said Oloyede had through transparency and innovations uplifted JAMB from an agency which depended on the Federal Government for subvention to a major contributor to the Federation Account.
The Deputy Senate President said the award of Commander of the Order of Niger (CON) which Professor Oloyede currently holds was too low compared to his sacrifices for the nation, especially at JAMB and promised to recommend him for a higher award at the next round of the National Award.
The Senator praised JAMB for the introduction of the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) which he said has brought sanity to admissions into the nation’s tertiary institutions.
He was full of praises for Senator Shuaib Afolabi Salisu, Chairman of Senate Committee on ICT, who as Consultant to JAMB, before his election as Senator, designed CAPS for the Board.
