Former Ogun State Governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) National Leader, Aremo Olusegun Osoba, on Thursday urged party members to close ranks, sheathe their swords and prioritise collective success ahead of the 2027 general elections as Governor Dapo Abiodun inaugurated the state APC Campaign Council.
The inauguration took place at the June 12 Cultural Centre in Kuto, Abeokuta. It formally launched the party’s coordinated mobilisation machinery for the presidential, governorship, National Assembly and State House of Assembly contests.
Osoba, who serves as Grand Patron of the council, appealed to aggrieved members to set aside personal grievances and present a united front. He stressed that the interests of the APC must come first and assured those who felt sidelined that their contributions would not be in vain.
He called on members to ensure the council remains focused on its mandate of delivering victory for the party.
Governor Abiodun, who chairs the Campaign Council, charged members to begin immediate grassroots consultations, sustained voter engagement and mobilisation across the state’s 20 local government areas, 236 wards and polling units. He described victory as requiring scientific and deliberate preparation rather than last-minute effort.
Abiodun warned against factionalism and internal sabotage, noting that appointments to the council were instruments of service and responsibility, not decorative titles. He emphasised unity, saying: “Unity is not the absence of differences. It is the wisdom to ensure that our differences do not become greater than our common cause.”
The council is structured to include party leaders, strategists, professionals and grassroots organisers drawn from the three senatorial districts. It features committees covering strategy, mobilisation, reconciliation, finance, security, media, youth and women engagement, welfare, transportation, digital communication, protocol, and traditional and religious affairs.
Key positions include Osoba as Grand Patron; former governors Otunba Gbenga Daniel and Senator Ibikunle Amosun as Deputy Grand Patrons; Ambassador Sarafa Tunji Isola as Assistant Grand Patron
; the party’s governorship candidate, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (popularly known as Yayi), as Co-Chairman; and Senator Lekan Mustapha as Director-General. Deputy Governor Noimot Salako-Oyedele and the deputy governorship candidate, Kudirat Adegunwa-Balogun (also referred to as Kudirat Abiodun Balogun), serve as Deputy Chairmen, while state APC Chairman Chief Yemi Sanusi is Vice-Chairman.
Also speaking at the event, Senator Adeola described victory in the 2027 general elections as a collective duty and reassured those not named to formal positions that they remain integral to ward-level mobilisation. He pledged an issue-based campaign focused on the party’s programmes and the Renewed Hope agenda.
The inauguration marks a significant step in the Ogun APC’s preparations for 2027, following the earlier unveiling of the 156-member campaign council structure.
