The party made the clarification in a statement signed by its state chairman, Chief Yemi Sanusi, on Sunday, following claims by Abayomi Semako Hunye that he was the APC governorship candidate for the forthcoming election.

Sanusi described the claim as contrary to the position of the party, stressing that Adeola emerged as the APC candidate after the party’s governorship primary election.

According to him, Adeola secured 304,055 votes out of the 305,287 accredited voters who participated in the exercise.

Following his emergence, Adeola selected Mrs. Kudirat Abiodun Adegunwa-Balogun as his running mate, while the names of both candidates were subsequently submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the APC’s governorship candidate and deputy governorship candidate for the 2027 election.

“The Ogun State APC therefore dissociates itself from any contrary claim or declaration by Abayomi Semako Hunye or any other individual purporting to be the party’s governorship candidate,” Sanusi said.

The chairman urged APC members, supporters and the general public to disregard claims contrary to the party’s official position and rely on communications issued by the Ogun APC and relevant electoral authorities.

He reiterated that Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola remains the APC candidate for the 2027 Ogun State governorship election.
