Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola-YAYI the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Ogun State, has promised to establish a New Towns Development Authority and revitalise the state’s road maintenance, environmental protection and waste management agencies if elected governor in 2027.

Adeola also pledged to establish a Ministry of Wealth Creation to drive job creation, skills acquisition and economic empowerment for youths and women under his nine-pillar ITESIWAJU agenda.

The senator made the promises at the weekend during an interactive session with Remo Collectives, a sociocultural group of accomplished Remo indigenes. The meeting was attended by the Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Ajayi, among other prominent personalities.

According to a statement issued on Sunday by Chief Kayode Odunaro, Media Adviser to Adeola and Chairman of the Media and Publicity Committee of the Ogun State APC Campaign Council, the proposed New Towns Development Authority would oversee the development of new towns equipped with modern infrastructure, while existing towns and communities would be upgraded and preserved as historical legacies.

Adeola said the proposed Ministry of Wealth Creation would sustain and expand empowerment programmes through which youths and women would receive vocational training and support to develop relevant skills, establish businesses and become economically self-reliant.

On healthcare, the APC governorship candidate promised to work with Governor Dapo Abiodun to revitalise the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH), Sagamu, describing inclusive healthcare and public wellbeing as critical components of his ITESIWAJU agenda.

He also disclosed that he was facilitating the construction of a four-storey hospital building at Remo General Hospital, which he said had reached the roofing stage, with completion expected in December.

“As we speak, I am facilitating a four-storey hospital building to be fully equipped at Remo General Hospital, and it is at the roofing level now, with completion set for December. Similarly, 14 similar projects are ongoing across the state,” he said.

Adeola commended President Bola Tinubu for implementing economic reforms which he said were beginning to yield results, citing positive assessments by international institutions and the anticipated expansion of international banking operations in Nigeria.

He expressed optimism that the benefits of the reforms would eventually trickle down to ordinary Nigerians, improving living standards and creating more economic opportunities.

The senator also praised Governor Abiodun for laying what he described as a solid economic foundation for Ogun State through major infrastructure projects.

He listed the state’s International Cargo Airport, proposed inland dry ports in the Egba and Ijebu areas, and the planned $7 billion deep seaport as strategic investments that would strengthen Ogun’s economic competitiveness.

According to him, the projects would boost revenue generation, attract investments and position Ogun to compete favourably with Lagos State in economic expansion and growth.

Adeola further disclosed that he had facilitated more than 36 infrastructure projects across Remoland in various sectors, including road construction, education, solar-powered streetlights, rural electrification, modern markets, information and communications technology centres, and primary healthcare facilities.

Earlier, the Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Ajayi, advised Adeola to steer clear of the agitation for state creation and instead focus on facilitating the establishment of additional local government areas or local council development areas for Remoland.
The monarch suggested that Sagamu could be divided into three or four local government areas to bring governance closer to the people and accelerate development.

He commended the senator for attracting infrastructure projects to Remoland, noting that some of his interventions had been undertaken without much publicity. He specifically cited the construction of the road leading to his palace and other development projects.

In his welcome address, the President of Remo Collectives, Mr Akintayo Rabiu, represented by his vice-president, Mr Olumide Onimole, said the group invited Adeola to discuss his development agenda for Ogun State, particularly Remoland.
He said the group was committed to promoting development and improving the welfare of the people of Remoland and Ogun State in general.

Other dignitaries at the meeting included the Elepe of Epe, Oba Adewale Oshiberu; elder statesman and Aare Gbo Gbo of Remoland, Otunba Kola Oyefeso, who is also president of KOKTO Group of Companies; Hon.
