The governor of Edi State, Governor Godwin Obaseki has mourned the passing of the former Vice-chancellor of the University of Benin (UNIBEN), Prof. Osayuki Oshodin. He described the late Prof. Oshodin as a consummate academic and scholar who lived a remarkable life of impact and service to humanity.
“Prof. Oshodin was an academician par excellence. He was exceptional in the classroom and as an administrator, pushing the boundaries of intellect and managing resources for the advancement of mankind,” the governor said.
Prof. Oshodin was a renowned scholar and administrator, who executed several reforms in the University of Benin that are reference points in the comity of institutions of higher learning in the country today.
He remains one of the best Vice Chancellors in the history of UNIBEN in the area of job creation for Nigerian youths, staff welfare and development of infrastructure for staff and students.
The Governor said “he lived a fulfilled life and completed his assignment.”
Mr Obaseki said the government will ensure the late professor Oshodin gets a befitting burial.
