Learn Skills, Save Money, Build Future— NYSC DG Tells Corps Members

The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, has urged corps members to embrace skill acquisition, prudent spending and financial discipline as key steps toward securing their future.

Speaking during a visit to the NYSC Kaduna State Temporary Orientation Camp in Kurmi-Mashi, Kaduna, General Nafiu advised the corps members to live within their means, avoid flamboyant lifestyles and develop a strong culture of savings.

He encouraged them to take full advantage of the NYSC Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme, describing it as a valuable platform for self-reliance and job creation.

According to him, the scheme has partnered with several stakeholders who are willing to support corps members with low-interest loans, business grants and starter packs to help them establish businesses after service.

“Do not waste your time because time is precious. Use it wisely and remain diligent during your post-camp SAED training,” he said.

General Nafiu further advised the corps members to begin modestly in business and gradually expand their investments through patience and consistency.

Earlier, the Kaduna State NYSC Coordinator, Mrs Efeke Murna Dadaza, presented the camp situation report, revealing that 2,896 corps members were registered.

She said the figure comprised 2,198 posted to Kaduna State and 698 dislodged from the Federal Capital Territory.
