Kidnappers linked to abduction of 8-year-old Islamic school pupil in Katsina metropolis arrested

The Katsina State Government has commended the Katsina State Police Command for the successful arrest of members of a notorious kidnapping syndicate operating in Katsina metropolis.

The Government, in a statement on Sunday by Dr. Nasir Mu’azu,
Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, praised the professionalism and swift response of the operatives of the newly established Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, Ali Umar Fage.

The commendation  followed the arrest and recovery of exhibits linked to the kidnapping of an 8-year-old boy on the 13th May, 2026 while returning from an Islamic school in Sardauna Housing Estatea by the syndicate under one Nura Aliyu popular known as Nura Garwa.

Dr Mu’azu said in the statement that
“This breakthrough further demonstrates the unwavering commitment of the administration of Dikko Umaru Radda towards strengthening security across Katsina State through strategic collaboration with security agencies.

“The government of Malam Dikko Umaru Radda is working tirelessly in collaboration with security agencies to keep Katsina State safe and secure for all. We will continue to provide the necessary support and enabling environment for security operatives to effectively discharge their duties.

We urge residents to remain law-abiding, vigilant, and continue supporting security agencies with credible information that will aid ongoing efforts to combat kidnapping and other criminal activities in the state.

“In the same vein, the state government reassure the people of Katsina State that they should go about their lawful businesses and daily activities without fear or intimidation. Our government is committed to sustaining ongoing security gains across the state.

“The Governor, on behalf of the government and the people of Katsina State, commend Katsina State Police Command for the successful operation and assured residents that government will continue to prioritize the protection of lives and property throughout the state.”
