Kano Govt takes natural resources investment drive to Saudi Arabia, meets Medscope

The Kano State Government has assured potential investors worldwide of their personal safety and that of their investments in the state.

Alhaji Safiyanu Hamza, the Commissioner Ministry of Solid Mineral and Natural Resources, gave this assurance during an extraordinary meeting held in Makkah, Saturday, 14th June, 2025, with the leadership of Medscope, a Saudi Arabian company with headquarters in Riyadh. The meeting focused on establishing business collaboration in the solid minerals sector in the state.

During the meeting, Alhaji Safiyanu Hamza, accompanied by Sheikh Tijjani Auwal, Commissioner of Religious Affairs, emphasized the Ministry’s dedication to providing maximum support and cooperation for the proposed business collaboration to materialize in Kano promptly. He highlighted Kano’s position as a hub for mineral resources marketing.

Additionally, Hamza expressed the need for collaboration in training and retraining the ministry staff and the sector stakeholders, particularly artisanal miners. He assured Medscope’s management that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf would appreciate to meet with them soon in Kano to advance discussions regarding the business proposal.

The Company Chairman, Sheikh Saoud Alzafere, explained that they are exploring Solid Mineral investment opportunities in Kano and Nigeria, with intentions to also contribute to healthcare and Islamic development in the state.

Dr. Alfatih Mohammed Ali, General Manager of the company, along with Engineer Ali Muhammed, its Country Sales Manager, expressed gratitude for the meeting. They pledged to send mining engineers and geologists to Kano shortly to conduct a feasibility study, aiming to gather updated data on available solid minerals, particularly in Shanono Local Government Area.

‘As a follow up, and within a few months, Medscope’s management will visit Nigeria, specifically Kano, to finalize the business collaboration and its implementation strategy’. Dr. Alfatih Mohammed Ali, assured.

The meeting concluded with a special souvenir presented to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, received on his behalf by Commissioner Alhaji Hamza Safiyanu Kachako. This presentation was witnessed by Commissioner Tijjani Auwal and Alhaji Adamu Ibrahim Dabo, Director of Public Enlightenment in the Ministry of Solid Minerals and Natural Resources.
