Former presidential Goodluck Jonathan on Monday joined the long list of politicians jostling for presidential ticket of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) by obtaining the N100 million nomination and expression of interest forms.
Jonathan hitherto belonged to the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) under whose platform he ran for second term in 2015 but was defeated by Muhammadu Buhari of the APC.
Speculations had been rife that he would defect to the APC to pick the presidential ticket in an alleged pact with some leaders of the party from the northern part of the country and, if elected president, do his second and final term of four years in office after which “power would return to the north.”
He was first elected in 2011 after completing the tenure of his former boss, Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, who died in office.
Although he had kept the nation waiting about whether or not he would take the bait, the coast got clearer on Monday, when some persons who dubbed themselves as members of a coalition of Northern groups arrived International Conference Centre, Abuja to obtain the forms for him.
With the ‘entry’ of Jonathan, the list of APC presidential is thus as under listed:
