Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has commended the King’s College Old Boys’ Association (KCOBA) for its unwavering commitment to the growth and development of King’s College, Lagos, over the years.
Sanwo-Olu gave the commendation on Saturday, 19th September, 2026, at the 117th Annual Founders’ Day Lecture and Anniversary of the College, held at the Ecobank Hall, Ecobank Head Office, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The Lagos State Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro, who represented the Governor at the event, said King’s College remained one of the institutions whose influence extended beyond the classroom, having produced generations of distinguished individuals who had contributed significantly to Public Service, business, law, diplomacy, academia and other sectors of national development.
He said the theme of the anniversary, “Owning Our Future: Advancing the King’s College Lagos Legacy,” was particularly significant, stressing that legacy was not merely about preserving what had been inherited, but about building on it to create a stronger institution for future generations.
Sanwo-Olu emphasised the need for the College to equip its students with the knowledge and skills required to thrive in an era driven by artificial intelligence, digital technology, emerging industries and global competition, while preserving the values of discipline, character, leadership and service that had distinguished the institution.
He also charged members of KCOBA to sustain their support for the College through mentorship, scholarships, modern facilities, professional networks and other initiatives capable of enhancing the learning environment and creating greater opportunities for students.
Sanwo-Olu congratulated the leadership and members of KCOBA on the 117th Founders’ Day celebration and urged them to continue building a legacy that would not only be preserved but continually renewed for generations to come.
