FUTA Alumnus , Milton Babajide Macaulay, Selected for Prestigious Africa Power Programme

An Alumnus of the Federal University of Technology Akure, Milton Babajide Macaulay has been selected as one of the participants of the 2022 Open Africa Power (OAP) programme which focuses on raising clean energy leaders across Africa. The highly competitive OAP 2022 cohort participants will be exposed to holistic technical know-how of the global electricity sector to develop sustainable solutions for the continent.

The programme is funded/hosted by the Enel Foundation, Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) and some academic partners. Selected candidates will be trained virtually by academic experts from the University of Cape Town’s Graduate School of Business, Florence School of Regulation, Strathmore University, Politecnico di Torino, Politecnico di Milano, SDA Bocconi and Venice International University.

There is also a possibility of visiting Italy for 2 weeks to meet with Global Energy experts (decision based on the Covid-19 situation by October 2022).

The 7-month training (May to November 2022) will focus on 3 areas: (1) Renewable Technology, Regulation and Economics. (2) Networks Technology, Regulation and Economics. (3) ICT Digitalization of the Electricity Industry. According to Macaulay , he applied for the program in a bid to complete his transition to the Bioenergy sector.

Established in early 2012, with the key objective of supporting the development of studies and research mainly in the energy field, Enel Foundation is an Italian non-profit organization promoted and financed by Enel S.p.A.
