FUTA Alumni Association Former President, Olaitan Adesomoju Donates Television Sets to FUTA Radio

A former President of the Federal University of Technology, Akure ,FUTA Dr. Olaitan Adesomoju, has donated two 55-inch television sets to FUTA Radio in support of the station’s growth and development.
The presentation on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, saw the Chairman of the Board of FUTA Radio, Prof. Tomola Obamuyi, receive the items on behalf of the board and the station.

Speaking at the event attended by members of the Alumni Association, staff of the radio station and other stakeholders, Dr. Adesomoju who currently serves as a member of FUTA Governing Council, representing the Alumni/Convocation, noted that the donation was inspired by the remarkable contributions of the board chairman and the station’s role in promoting the university, especially in connecting the global community during activities marking FUTA’s 40th anniversary a few years ago.

Adesomoju ,popularly called Crown , also stated that it’s also a response to the Clarion call of the Vice Chancellor Professor Adenike Oladiji on alumni to continue to give back to their Alma Mater.
He encouraged members of the university community to cultivate the habit of giving back to their alma mater, emphasizing the importance of fulfilling promises made towards institutional development.

He further pledged to donate more air conditioning units to the station in the coming days to enhance staff comfort and operational efficiency, while commending members of the university community and board for their positive impact in his life.

In his remarks, Prof. Obamuyi appreciated Dr. Adesomoju for his generosity and commitment to the university’s advancement. He also commended the Acting Station Manager, Mrs. Taye Fagbuyi, for her dedication, openness to improvement, and efforts toward the station’s growth and assured that the board would continue to support initiatives that will further strengthen FUTA Radio’s operations.

Also speaking, Mrs. Fagbuyi expressed gratitude to the donor and the FUTA Alumni Association for their continuous support. She described the gesture as a reflection of strong partnership and community engagement, noting that the equipment would enhance the station’s service delivery.

Present at the ceremony were Prof Felix Alao Director of Open and Distance Learning, Prof Ganiyu Oboh, Director , Advancement Centre and Dr Ayokunle Ademosun, Associate Director.
