The death has occured of Alhaji Abdullah Ayinla Bello, popularly known as ‘Baba Adini’ by young and old within the Obafemi Awolowo University, Muslim Community, Ile Ife.
A statement by the family said Alhaji Bello died on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, and would be buried on Wednesday, April 19, in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital.
The statement reads:
Our Lord Has Called His Servant to Himself!
As salaam alaikum waramotulah wabarakatuhu.
We announce the passing away of our father, Alhaji Abdullah Ayinla Bello (born April 6, 1938).
Popularly known as ‘Baba Adini’ by young and old within the Obafemi Awolowo University Muslim Community.
A lover of books, he first worked at the Library at the University of Ibadan before joining the service of the then Ibadan Campus of the Library of the University of Ife.
He moved with the University to its permanent site at Ile-Ife where he spent almost three decades working in the University Library. His final posting was at the Students Affairs Section of the University from where he retired in 1991.
He was officially titled Baba Adinni of the OAU Muslim Community (there is no record of any official ceremony) due to his numerous contributions to the Community.
He championed many causes for the Muslim Community and Muslim Students Society (Mssn Oau Branch) on campus.
He was also very active in the Non-Academic Staff Union at the University, a body he led for many years, recording many accomplishments for the benefit of workers.
He was also the head of the Agboole Orunkan Muslim Community in Owu, Abeokuta for many years.
He passed away earlier today, Tuesday, April 18, 2023, and would be buried tomorrow, Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at 2pm in sha Allah at the Adigbe Muslim Cemetery, Opako, Adigbe along Panseke-Obada Road, Adigbe Abeokuta.
Late Alhaji Abdullah Ayinla Bello is the father of Ajibola Gbadebo Dippo Bello, AbdulLateef Bello, Musodiq Bello and father-in-law of Sururah Bello and Semiu Gbadebo all proud members of UNIFEMGA and several other non-biological sons and daughters.
We pray Allah swt to receive his soul with that of all faithful Muslims and admit him into His Aljanaat Firdaus. Amin.
