The Emir of Zazzau, Ambassador Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli has tasked the Kaduna Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, KADCCIMA, to propagate an all embracing policy that promotes economic diversification, including skills acquisition among young people.
At the opening of the 47th Kaduna International Trade Fair weekend, the royal father who is also the grand patron of KADCCIMA, identified youth unemployment as a bane of development and driver of insecurity. He was represented by the Madaki Goma Zazzau, Hon. Musa Bamalli.
Amb. Bamalli said Nigeria has always had lofty programmes and policies, but decried poor implementation and lack of consistency. He challenged the KADCCIMA leadership to pursue its stated visions diligently.
Specifically, the emir urged the president of the chamber, Alhaji Farouk Suleiman to make use of the facilities at the Kaduna International Trade and Investment Centre for the promotion of culture and tourism.
Earlier, Suleiman, who assumed office two months ago, promised to embark on “a deliberate institutional turn around” by repositioning the chamber to serve not as a mere event organiser but as a police advocate, business accelerator, a skills development platform and a year-round engine of economic development.
He promised that his team will champion vocational and technical skills acquisition, digital and ICT training, agro-processing, entrepreneurship incubation, mentorship and light manufacturing skills.
His words: “Our vision is to turn this vast edifice to a 365-day hub for trade, learning, innovation and investment. We invite investors, corporate organisations and development institutions to partner with us for strategic sponsorships, business clinics, export promotion workshops, financing forums, women entrepreneurship summits, youth enterprise boot camps and sector-specific expos”.
He disclosed that the chamber has raised a culture and tourism committee which is finalising plans to host a traditional boxing tournament- DAMBE Championship.
