It was commendations galore on Sunday, 8th December 2024 when the first set of graduating students of Fajr Centre, an Islamic institute in Ikorodu, Lagos State, were presented to the public.
The event, tagged ‘A Day with Fajr’, held within the premises of the institute at Fajr Close, off Alhaji Kawu Alabi Crescent, Owutu, Ikorodu, was organised to unveil the students ahead of the formal graduation ceremony slated for Sunday, 15th December, at Ikorodu Local Government premises by Agric Bus Stop, Ikorodu,Lagos.
From far and wide, dignitaries, including Muslim scholars, parents, Quranic teachers, friends and associates of the founder, Alhaji Zikrullah Kunle Hassan, a former Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON)trooped to the venue to witness the display of Qur’anic scholarship by the graduands, made up of seven males and three females.
Chairman of the occasion, Senator Shuaib Afolabi Salisu from Ogun Central, and others who spoke at the event commended the vision of Alhaji Hassan and his wife, Alhaja Mutiat Hassan in establishing the Fajr Centre.
In his opening remarks, Alhaji Hassan said the institution which was formally launched in 2019, but commenced full-time course on Hifz (Qur’anic memorisation) in 2022 offers training on a wide range of subjects such as nahw, tajweed, sarf, tawheed, fiqh, akhlaaq, among others.
He pointed out however, that memorisation of The Qur’an remains the primary focus of the institute.
