The Membership Arm of the Chartered Institute of Project Managers of Nigeria (CIPMN) has distanced itself from a purported Annual General Meeting scheduled to hold between November 3 and 6, 2026, under the leadership of Mr Henry Ifeanyi Mbadiwe.
In an official disclaimer signed by its Public Relations Officer, Hassan Qassim, the Membership Arm described the proposed gathering as unauthorised, insisting that it does not recognise the meeting as a duly authorised or legitimate AGM of the Institute.
The Arm raised concerns over Mr Mbadiwe’s claim to the position of Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of CIPMN, arguing that the designation of “Registrar General and CEO” is not recognised under the Act establishing the Institute.
It further maintained that his previous appointment as Registrar had been set aside by a court of law, citing the judgment of the Federal Capital Territory High Court delivered on December 15, 2020, in Suit No. CV/125/19, between Jamilu Isa Yankwashi versus Dr. (Mrs.) Victoria Okoronkwo and three others.
According to the Membership Arm, the court judgment raises questions about Mr Mbadiwe’s authority to act in the capacity of Registrar or convene an AGM on behalf of the Institute.
The Arm also maintained that the organisation and coordination of membership activities, including the Annual General Meeting of the Membership Arm, fall within its mandate and not that of the Regulatory Arm.
Consequently, it advised members of the Institute and the general public to exercise caution and seek clarification from the appropriate institutional authority before participating in the programme or making any financial or other commitments towards it.
Reaffirming its commitment to protecting members’ interests and upholding institutional integrity, the Membership Arm said it remained committed to ensuring that the objectives of the Federal Government’s reform were respected.
