Ahead of the Saturday’s Governorship Election, the re-election quest of the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his Deputy, Kadiri Obafemi Hamzat, has received a major boost on Tuesday, as B.A.N.G, a faith-based support  group, endorsed the  ticket for a second term.

B.A.N.G is an acronym that stands for BAT Ambassadors for Nigeria Greatness. B.A.T is the abbreviation of the name of the President-Elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

At a Townhall meeting with the representatives of the group in Alausa Ikeja on Tuesday,  Sanwo-Olu, represented by Hamzat, had sought the support of the group, saying his re-election was key to preserving the ideals of Lagos State, particularly in relationship with the continuation of the implementation of its strategic development plan.

“We need your support on this reelection project. We understand the challenges and we have the competence and useful experience to address them. And you are can see that we are tackling them head on.

“Our first time has shown our capabilities and sincerity of purpose. This is why Mr. Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and I are seeking your support and vote, come Saturday,” Hamzat said.

He explained that their review of the Presidential Election held February 25, show that only 18% of the registered voters and supporters of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) , actually went to vote.

“Meanwhile the opposition party had their supporters all out and in full energy.”

He said it was important for the APC government to retain power in Lagos because of the strategic advantage such political alignment provided with APC at the  Federal Government .

“We can not afford to fail. This is a high stake election,” he added.

In his response, Alhaji Y. K.O Abdulkareem, Chairman Board of Trustees of BANG, said regardless of their reservations to certain issues in the state, they would queue behind the reelection of Sanwo-Olu and Hamzat.

“This is to officially endorse Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Kadiri Femi Hamzat for reelection  as the Governor and Deputy Governor of Lagos State.

” We are endorsing them today because of the stability in terms of security and safety that we enjoy in Lagos,  Because of the continuity they are providing in governance.. And because of their sincere efforts and commitment to good gocernace,” he said.

Abdulkareem said besides endorsement, his group would also mobilise huge number of votes for the candidates.

“Our organization has membership across the 20 Local Government Areas and the Local Council Development Areas. And by rough estimate, we have about 1million registered voters. And we are ready to deliver 100% for Sanwo-Olu and Hamzat,” he promised.
