Apo Legislative Mosque finally announces replacement for Imam sacked for being critical of FG

The Management of the  National Assembly Central Mosque, Zone E,  Legislators’ Quarters, Apo, Abuja has finally announced a  replacement for its disengaged Chief Imam, Sheikh Muhammad  Nuru Khalid.

The new Imam of the Mosque is Sheikh Sufyan Abdullahi Malumfashi, according to a statement signed by Mansur S. Jarkasa, Secretary of the Mosque Committee.

The former Imam, popularly called ‘Digital Imam’, got suspended from his position on 2nd of  April, 2022 for criticising the Federal Government over its handling of the security situation in the country.

He was subsequently fired for not being “remorseful” but he got hired immediately by CBN Quarters Central Mosque, also in Abuja.

Announcing the appointment of a new Imam for Apo Legislative Mosque, Jarkasa said “Following the disengagement of Sheikh Muhammad  Nuru Khalid from the position of Chief Imam of National Assembly Central Mosque, Zone E,  Legislators’ Quarters, Apo, Abuja in April, 2022, the Management Committee of the Mosque under the Chairmanship of Senator Saidu Muhammad Dansadau with former Minister of Mines and Solid Minerals Development, Hon. Abubakar Bawa Bwari as his Deputy and other members of the Committee, has after all the necessary due deligence, consultations with stakeholders and due process resolved to unanimously appoint Sheikh Sufyan Abdullahi Malumfashi as the new Chief Imam of the National Assembly Mosque effective from 1st February, 2023.

“Sheikh Sufyan Abdullahi hailed from Katsina State and obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Islamic Studies from the Islamic University of Madina, in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Masters Degree from Nasarawa State
University. Sufyan was once the Chief Imam of Area Eleven (opposite FCDA Headquarters) Jumu’a Mosque, Imam Saudi Arabian Consulate Jumu’a Mosque, Asokoro and presently visiting Jumu’a Imam of An-Nur Mosque, Wuse 2, all in Abuja.

“He is  currently Deputy Ameer (Chairman) of the FCT Committee of Imams and coordinates Da’awah activities in six African countries on behalf of an International Donor Agency. He is happily married with children.”
