Akogun Sharafadeen Alli elevated, becomes new Maye Balogun of Ibadanland

A former Secretary to the Oyo State Government, Akogun Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli was among the nine  High  Chiefs and Chiefs recently promoted by His Imperial Majesty,  Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba (Dr). Mohood Lekan Balogun, Alli-Okunmade II.

Barr. Sharafadeen Alli was elevated from Akogun to Maye Balogun in the Olubadan Stool.


At the installation ceremony, His Imperial Majesty wished the newly promoted Chiefs well and prayed for them to successfully climb the established hierarchies to the top of the ladder and reign over Ibadanland at their respective God’s appointed time.

In his statement after the installation as the new Maye Balogun, during the brief chat with REMOLAZ Media Online news, High Chief Sharafadeen Alli was elated and promised to utilize his political, social and economic net worth to promote Ibadanland in all ramifications.


All the elevated Chiefs received and were decorated with the usual symbolic traditional leaves (Ewe Akoko) at the well attended ceremony at Alliwo Palace of Olubadan . The promotion of the new Chiefs  at the occasion involved six Senior Chiefs and three Chiefs as a result of the recent vacancies in the Ibadan Chieftaincy system.

Chief Sharafadeen was elevated with other High Chiefs which included Chiefs Wasiu Delodun Ajimobi as Ayingun, Tirimisiyu Arowolo Obisesan as Asaju, Mikail Orogun Modi-Aare-Ago and Raufu Eleruwere as Aare Alasa respectively.

The new Maye Balogun is a thoroughbred legal practitioner, genuine mentor to upcoming leaders, astute entrepreneur, philanthropist and reputed politician. He has occupied various positions such as Local Government Chairman, Secretary to Oyo State Government, Chairman, Odu’a Investment Company Ltd, President of the famous Omo Aj’orosun Club, a social-cultural and non partisan Club among others where he had made remarkable impacts as a visionary leader.
