…Moves to strengthen media coordination, information management and grassroots communication

The Ogun State All Progressives Congress (APC) Media Campaign Committee has commenced the development of a comprehensive four-month media and communication strategy as part of efforts to strengthen the party’s communication architecture ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The initiative was unveiled at the committee’s inaugural meeting held on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, through a hybrid physical and Zoom session.
The meeting, chaired by Baaroyin Kayode Odunaro, with the support of Hon. Remmy Hassan, Mr. Kayode Akinmade and Chief Segun Adewale, brought together members of the committee to deliberate on the structure, coordination and operational framework required to effectively manage the campaign’s media activities.
A major focus of the meeting was the need to establish stronger coordination among the mainstream media, new media and social media teams, with members examining mechanisms for ensuring consistency, accuracy, timely information flow and effective dissemination of campaign messages.
The committee noted that a coordinated media structure would be critical to ensuring that information emanating from the campaign is properly managed, verified and presented through the appropriate platforms.
Members consequently identified the need for clearly defined responsibilities among the various media teams, improved internal communication and a unified approach to the development, approval and dissemination of campaign content.
The committee resolved to establish a working structure responsible for the daily review, verification and dissemination of information before publication across designated platforms.
Members were also encouraged to subject contested, sensitive or potentially controversial information to appropriate verification before publication, while proposed content ideas, media resources and other relevant materials would be submitted through the designated communication platform for review and necessary action.
In a presentation to the committee, the Communications Consultant and Group Marketing Director stressed the importance of engaging trained journalists and credible media platforms as integral components of the campaign’s communication architecture.
He also emphasised the need for greater synergy among the various communication departments, noting that their activities should complement rather than compete with one another.
The meeting further agreed to establish a formal interface among the mainstream media team, new media team and external media agency.
The arrangement, according to the committee, is aimed at improving collaboration, reducing duplication and role conflicts, and ensuring that all communication activities remain consistent with the broader objectives of the APC campaign.
As part of the implementation framework, the committee is expected to develop a detailed four-month action plan covering content calendars, platform-specific communication strategies, project milestones and measurable performance indicators.
A corresponding operational budget covering mobility, equipment, content production and other logistics is also expected to be prepared and presented to the Central Working Committee (CWC) for consideration.
The proposed communication strategy will also focus on documenting and communicating infrastructure projects, government programmes, empowerment initiatives and other interventions associated with the APC governorship candidate, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (YAYI), while ensuring that such communication remains aligned with the broader objectives and messaging of the APC campaign.
Beyond conventional media engagement, the committee emphasised the need to develop sustainable grassroots communication mechanisms capable of improving community-level information dissemination and participation.
Members also discussed the importance of identifying and addressing media-related challenges across local communities, particularly in ensuring that campaign information reaches voters through channels that are accessible, credible and responsive to local realities.
The committee is expected to build a communication system that allows campaign information to move efficiently from the central structure to local communities, while also creating channels through which feedback from the grassroots can be received and incorporated into the campaign’s communication planning.
The resolutions reached at the inaugural meeting are expected to provide the foundation for a more structured, coordinated and accountable media operation as the APC intensifies preparations for the 2027 election campaign.
The four-month strategy, when finalised, will therefore serve as an operational roadmap for the committee’s media personnel, platforms and partner agencies, with emphasis on coordination, accuracy, professionalism, timely communication and effective grassroots engagement.
