2027: INEC publishes preliminary voters’ register online

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has made the Preliminary Register of Voters available online to expand public access ahead of the 2027 general election.

In a statement on Monday, 26 October 2026, the Commission said the same register earlier displayed physically at Registration Areas nationwide from 9 to 15 October is now accessible at https://display.inecnigeria.org.

The physical display, carried out under Section 19 of the Electoral Act 2026, allowed registered voters to inspect their details and file claims or objections. INEC said it noted public and stakeholder concerns about the need for an online option in addition to the physical exercise.

The Commission described the online release as a further step to promote transparency, accessibility and public confidence in the electoral process. It continues to process claims and objections in line with the law and plans to certify and publish the Final Register of Voters on 15 December 2026.

Mohammed Kudu Haruna, Chairman of INEC’s Information and Voter Education Committee, said the Commission remains committed to transparency, accountability and faithful implementation of the Electoral Act 2026 in delivering credible elections.
