The League of Imams and Alfas in Yoruba Land (Rabita) has congratulated the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Ambassador Ismail Abba Yusuf, on the successful conduct of the 2026 Hajj operation.
The League conveyed the commendation during a courtesy visit by its delegation to the NAHCON chairman.
The delegation was led by the Grand Mufti of Yoruba Land, Sheikh AbdulRasaq AbdulAzeez Ishola, and included the Secretary General of the League, Sheikh Mustapha Oseni Adewale (Dohak), the Deputy Chief Imam of Osun State, Dr. Maruf Isola, and other members.
The League commended Ambassador Yusuf for what it described as effective coordination and oversight of the 2026 Hajj operation, saying the performance underscored the importance of a strong and truly regulatory NAHCON in the administration of Hajj and Umrah affairs in Nigeria.
It also praised the chairman’s efforts to reposition NAHCON as a regulatory body, as well as his willingness to collaborate with the League, described as the apex Islamic leadership body in the South-West, covering more than 133 Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas.
According to the League, the engagement represents a positive step towards strengthening cooperation between NAHCON and established Islamic leadership structures, particularly in Hajj enlightenment, pilgrims’ welfare, grassroots mobilisation and religious guidance.
The Islamic clerics also commended the NAHCON chairman’s humility, accessibility and dedication, which they said had helped to strengthen public confidence in Hajj administration.
“On behalf of the League, we congratulate the Chairman, Commissioners, management, and staff of NAHCON on the successful 2026 Hajj operation,” they said in a statement .
The League prayed for continued wisdom, strength and success for Ambassador Yusuf, while seeking sustained excellence in NAHCON’s service to the Nigerian Muslim Ummah.
It expressed its readiness for a stronger and continued partnership with NAHCON in the interest of Nigerian pilgrims and the wider Muslim community.
The statement was signed by Sheikh Mustapha Oseni Adewale (Dohak), Secretary General of the League of Imams and Alfas in Yoruba Land, on behalf of the visiting delegation.
