Yayi meets Kayode Amusan political group, promises inclusive governance

The consensus Governorship candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State ahead of the 2027 Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has met with members of the JKA Support Group.

The meeting conveyed by Hon Kayode Amusan, a former member of the Federal House of Representatives was held at his private residence located in Government Reservation Area (GRA), Ibara Abeokuta

The gathering, attended by party leaders, supporters and loyalists of the All Progressives Congress (APC), served as an opportunity for stakeholders to reaffirm their support for Adeola’s governorship aspiration ahead of the 2027 election.

The convener of the special meeting urged members of the support group and residents of the state to rally behind Adeola, describing him as a leader whose developmental interventions have positively impacted communities across Ogun State.

The former federal lawmaker pointed out that, Adeola’s performance in the Senate has demonstrated his commitment to the welfare and development of the people through the facilitation of schools, roads and other infrastructure projects.

Amusan said the senator’s achievements while serving as a lawmaker have strengthened confidence in his ability to deliver greater development if elected governor.

He expressed optimism that Adeola would continue to record significant achievements beyond his current position, stressing that the support of party faithful and residents would be crucial to the success of the governorship bid.

Adeola in his remarks assured political stakeholders and supporters in Ogun State that no group or individual would be sidelined in his quest to become governor in 2027, pledging to run an inclusive and people-oriented administration if elected

The Governorship hopeful thanked party leaders and supporters for their confidence in him, describing the gathering as a demonstration of a shared commitment to the progress and development of Ogun State.

He said accessibility and inclusiveness would remain the hallmark of his political movement, assuring supporters that every stakeholder would have a role to play in the journey towards the 2027 governorship election.

The consensus candidate noted that elections are won through collective effort and teamwork, stressing that victory could only be achieved when all interests are properly represented and carried along.

“There is no way we can form a campaign structure without considering everybody. This project is about Ogun State and not about any individual. I can only stand in my polling unit on election day, but the success of this aspiration will depend on the collective efforts of all our supporters across the state,” he said.

Adeola assured members of the support group that they would be adequately represented in future political structures, adding that consultations would continue to ensure broad participation and unity within the party.

The candidate currently representing Ogun West Senatorial District at national assembly emphaised that Ogun State’s interest must always take precedence over personal ambition, noting that leadership should be driven by a commitment to collective progress rather than individual gain.

“Ogun State is bigger than any individual. I am only a symbol of this movement. The moment everybody is carried along, the benefits of victory will be enjoyed by all’, Adeola added.

He maintained that the current phase of his aspiration remains one of consultation, noting that official campaigns have not commenced, and equally used the occasion to reaffirm his roots in Ogun State, describing himself as a bona fide indigene with strong ties to different parts of the state.

Adeola explained that his mother hails from Kemta-Odutola in Abeokuta South while his father is from Ishaga-Orile in Yewa, saying his background gives him a deep understanding of the aspirations and challenges of the people across Ogun State.

He explained that the motivation behind his governorship ambition and his decision was driven by a genuine desire to accelerate development and improve the lives of residents.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate pointed to his record in the Senate as evidence of his commitment to public service, noting that his interventions and constituency projects are spread across the state.

“I believe my intention is genuine and I have a clear plan for the development of Ogun State. The projects facilitated under my watch are visible across Ogun West, Egba and Remo. The testimonies are there for everyone to see,” he said.

Adeola added that development would remain his top priority if elected governor, promising practical leadership focused on infrastructure, empowerment and improved living standards for residents.

“I want to be a practical governor whose actions will speak louder than words. What I have been doing as a senator is because I believe in development. Empowering people and improving their lives gives me joy,” he added.

The meeting ended with renewed expressions of support for the senator’s governorship ambition as stakeholders pledged to continue consultations and mobilization efforts ahead of the 2027 Ogun State governorship election.
