The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has engaged bishops of the Anglican Communion in the state, outlining his vision for purposeful, inclusive and people-oriented governance if elected in 2027.
Adeola, who made the presentation during a meeting with the clerics at the Bishop’s Court in Sagamu, said his proposed ITESIWAJU Agenda would provide a blueprint for sustaining ongoing development while creating new opportunities and improving the standard of living across the state.
The meeting provided an opportunity for the APC candidate and the bishops to exchange views on critical issues, including security, education, healthcare, youth empowerment and equitable distribution of development projects.
Speaking on behalf of the bishops, the Archbishop of Lagos Ecclesiastical Province, Most Rev. Dr. Michael Olusina Fape, urged Adeola to embrace an all-inclusive approach to governance if elected.
Fape stressed the need for a government that would serve residents irrespective of their religious beliefs, ethnic backgrounds or geographical locations.
He also called for greater attention to rural and remote communities, noting that development should not be concentrated in major urban centres at the expense of people living in less-developed areas.
Responding, Adeola assured the bishops that his administration, if entrusted with the mandate in 2027, would work to meet the expectations and aspirations of the people of Ogun State.
He cited his legislative record and intervention projects as evidence of his experience and commitment to public service, expressing confidence in his ability to translate his experience into effective governance at the state level.
The APC candidate explained that the ITESIWAJU Agenda would focus on consolidating existing development efforts while expanding opportunities for residents and strengthening the foundations for sustainable growth across the state.
Adeola also thanked the Anglican bishops for their prayers, counsel and support, assuring them that his administration would promote religious harmony and maintain productive partnerships with faith-based organisations.
He further pledged that, if elected governor, he would not disappoint the Christian community and would remain committed to building a government that accommodates the interests of all residents of Ogun State.
