Usman Ododo succeeds Bello as Kogi Governor

Alhaji Usman Ododo on Saturday, 27th January 2024 officially assumed the role of Kogi State governor, succeeding Yahaya Bello, who completed his second term same day.

The inauguration took place at Muhammadu Buhari Square,Lokoja, Kogi State capital , with Ododo taking the oath, administered by the state Chief Judge, Justice Joseph Majebi, around 2:24 pm. 

Salifu Joel Oyibot was sworn in shortly after as the deputy governor.

Speaking after the swearing in, Ododo appreciated his predecessor, Bello, and promised not to disappoint the people of the state.

Ododo, who is the 5th Kogi governor, also presented an award of service – Grand Conference Silver Service Star – to Bello.

Vice President Kashim Shettima ,Alhaji Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the immediate past governor, Yahaya Bello were among the dignitaries in attendance.
