United States and Israel on Saturday February 28, 2026, launched a large-scale, joint military offensive against Iran, marking a major escalation in regional conflict.
The U.S. military dubbed its campaign “Operation Epic Fury,” while Israel named its offensive “Roaring Lion”.
The strikes by the two allies
hit military infrastructure, ballistic missile production sites, and nuclear facilities in cities including Tehran, Isfahan, Qom, and Tabriz.
Iranian state media reported that at least 53 people were killed at a girls’ school in Minab during the strikes.
U.S. President Donald Trump described the operation as “massive and ongoing,” explicitly calling for the Iranian people to “take over your government”.
The attacks occurred just one day after indirect nuclear talks in Geneva ended without a deal.
In return to the attacks, Iran launched retaliatory missile and drone waves targeting Israel and U.S. military bases across the Middle East, including those in Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and the UAE.
Multiple countries, including Israel, Iran, Jordan, and Qatar, closed their airspace to all civilian flights as the conflict intensified.
