The University of Lagos Muslim Alumni (UMA) has congratulated Professor Is-haq Olanrewaju Oloyede on the successful completion of his tenure as Registrar and Chief Executive of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
President of UMA, Dr. Mumini Alao, described Oloyede’s 10-year stewardship as one of the most impactful and exemplary in the history of Nigeria’s public service.
He said Prof. Oloyede’s tenure was “defined by bold reforms, transparency, accountability and innovation, which repositioned JAMB into one of the country’s most efficient and respected public institutions. Under his leadership, the Board strengthened the integrity of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), deepened the use of technology in admissions, significantly reduced examination malpractice and recorded unprecedented financial accountability through billions of naira remitted to the Federal Government.”
According to him, Prof Oloyede’s achievements have become a benchmark for excellence in public administration.
“Prof. Is-haq Oloyede has demonstrated that public office is a sacred trust. His integrity, transparency, courage and unwavering commitment to excellence have not only transformed JAMB but have also restored public confidence in one of Nigeria’s most strategic institutions. His legacy will remain a reference point for generations of public administrators,” he said.
Dr. Alao noted that Prof Oloyede’s exemplary conduct has projected the true values of Islam in public service.
He said: “No doubt, his life and career reflect the Islamic principles of honesty, justice, accountability, humility and service to humanity, making him a worthy ambassador of the Muslim Ummah and an inspiration to young Muslims aspiring to leadership positions.
“At a time when society yearns for ethical leadership, Prof. Oloyede has shown that competence and godliness can coexist in public office. Through his character and accomplishments, he has strengthened the confidence of Nigerians in Muslim professionals serving in positions of national responsibility.”
He also applauded Prof. Oloyede’s courage in taking responsibility during difficult moments, describing his openness and sincerity as rare leadership qualities that endeared him to millions of Nigerians.
He urged public office holders across the country to emulate his discipline, prudent management of public resources and commitment to institutional reforms, stressing that Nigeria’s development depends on leaders who place national interest above personal gain.
While praying for Prof Oloyede’s continued good health, Allah’s guidance and greater accomplishments, Dr. Alao on behalf of the UNILAG Muslim Alumni expressed confidence that Oloyede’s vast experience in academia, public administration and educational development would continue to serve Nigeria and humanity in even greater capacities.
