The Companion, an association of Muslim men in business and the professions, has celebrated renowned legal practitioner and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Professor Yusuf Olaolu Ali, on the occasion of his 70th birthday.
In a congratulatory message signed by the National Amir (President), Imam Nojeem Jimoh, FCIH (UK), and the Publicity Secretary, Prof. Tunde Akanni, the association described the milestone as a celebration of a life marked by faith, excellence, justice, scholarship, philanthropy and enduring service to humanity.
The association, in the statement dated September 9, 2026, said attaining the age of 70 was a profound blessing from Almighty Allah, but noted that, in Professor Ali’s case, the occasion represented much more than longevity.
According to The Companion, the septuagenarian has, over several decades, distinguished himself as one of Nigeria’s foremost legal practitioners and a respected authority whose contributions have enriched the country’s jurisprudence.
It commended Ali’s professional career as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, noting that he had consistently demonstrated exceptional professional excellence, integrity and intellectual depth, earning the respect of members of the Bench, the Bar and the wider society.
The association also highlighted Professor Ali’s contributions to the Muslim community, describing him as a frontline Muslim leader whose commitment to the advancement of Islam had remained unwavering.
“His leadership within the Muslim community has been characterised by wisdom, moderation, courage and an abiding commitment to the ideals of justice, compassion and communal development,” the statement said.
The Companion said Professor Ali’s life had continued to inspire generations of Muslim professionals because of his ability to combine religious faith with professional excellence and public responsibility.
It also praised his contributions to legal scholarship, particularly through his numerous books and scholarly works on law, constitutionalism and anti-corruption.
The association described the publications as valuable reference materials that have been widely used by scholars, students, legal practitioners and policy experts in Nigeria and beyond.
“His intellectual legacy stands as an enduring investment in the nation’s legal and governance architecture,” it said.
Beyond his professional and intellectual accomplishments, The Companion commended Professor Ali for his philanthropic activities, saying he had consistently used his resources, influence and time to support educational initiatives, community development projects and humanitarian interventions.
According to the association, his generosity has positively impacted numerous lives and created opportunities for people across different communities.
It further identified humility as one of Professor Ali’s most endearing qualities, saying that despite his accomplishments and national stature, he remained warm, approachable and gracious.
“His simplicity, kindness and respect for people, irrespective of status, have made him not only a celebrated advocate but also a beloved mentor and statesman,” the association said.
The Companion said it was particularly proud to identify with Professor Ali as a worthy role model, noting that his life embodies the values of excellence, integrity and service which the association seeks to promote among Muslim professionals.
The association prayed that Almighty Allah would grant the legal luminary continued sound health, renewed strength, abundant blessings and many more years of impactful service to Islam, Nigeria and humanity.
It also prayed for increased wisdom, protection for his family and the preservation of his legacy, while asking Allah to reward his lifelong sacrifices with Al-Jannah Firdaus.
