Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, representing Zaria Federal Constituency, has been elected as the Speaker of the 10th House of Representatives.
Abbas, won a landslide victory, polling 353 votes to defeat his arch rival, outgoing Deputy Speaker of the House, Idris Wase, who polled only three (3) votes.
The outgoing Majority Leader of the House, Alhassan Ado-Doguwa had earlier nominated Tajudeen Abbas for the position of Speaker and was seconded by Nnolim Nnaji.
Tajudeen Abbas and Benjamin Kalu, are the favoured candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership and Presidency for the position of Speaker and Deputy Speaker respectively.
