TAJBank Limited has clinched two major honours at the 2026 Global Islamic Finance Awards (GIFA), with the bank emerging as Digital Bank of the Year, while its Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Hamid Joda, was named Islamic Banker of the Year.
Joda was represented at the awards ceremony by TAJBank’s Chief Compliance Officer, Dr. Muhammed K. Muhammed.
The twin recognitions mark a significant milestone for the non-interest bank and underscore its growing profile in digital banking and Islamic finance.
In a statement celebrating the awards, TAJBank said the recognition of its digital banking operations reflected the strength of its digital transformation journey and its commitment to leveraging technology to make banking simpler, more accessible, seamless and responsive to customers’ evolving needs.
The bank said its digital transformation strategy was anchored on the integration of innovation with ethical finance to deliver meaningful impact to customers and the wider financial system.
It added that Joda’s recognition as Islamic Banker of the Year was a reflection of his leadership and commitment to advancing the principles of ethical and non-interest banking.
“Under his leadership, TAJBank continues to pursue growth while remaining firmly anchored in its values and purpose,” the bank said.
TAJBank also acknowledged the contribution of its Board of Directors, saying its strategic direction, support and confidence had provided the platform for the institution to innovate, expand and create lasting value.
The bank dedicated the awards to its customers, describing the recognition as a reflection of their trust, loyalty and continued partnership.
“Every digital innovation, every new solution and every improvement we make is ultimately driven by one objective: to serve you better,” TAJBank stated.
The financial institution also commended its workforce for contributing to the achievements, saying the awards belonged to a team that had consistently demonstrated dedication, resilience, expertise and commitment to excellence.
TAJBank said the honours would further strengthen its resolve to deepen financial inclusion, embrace innovation and improve banking experiences for its customers.
“As we receive these honours, we are reminded that recognition is not the destination—it is a responsibility to do even more,” the bank said.
The Global Islamic Finance Awards are among the prominent international recognitions in the Islamic finance industry, celebrating institutions and individuals for achievements and contributions to the development of Islamic finance.
TAJBank described the double recognition as a celebration for its entire stakeholder community.
