The Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has asked security agencies in the country to crush terrorists, bandits and other criminals wherever they may be.

He gave the charge on Sunday, at the 10th General Assembly of the Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN), held at the Bola Babalakin Hall, Gbongan, Osun State.

The Sultan  said more than 90 percent of Muslims in Nigeria don’t agree with, or approve of  what  terrorists and bandits are doing.

He said he and other Muslim leaders in Nigeria have repeatedly denounced terrorists and bandits.

He however regretted that despite such condemnations, some individuals have refused to acknowledge their efforts.

“…some people said we keep quiet. No, we do not keep quiet. We have not been keeping quiet, we have been making comments, calling on security agencies to do whatever it takes to clear all these bandits and terrorists away. That is what we have been saying but they don’t want to hear that we have said that. But we are saying it and saying it again: Clear all bandits and terrorists wherever they are and Nigeria will be happy with itself,” he pointed out.

The Sultan once again dismissed alleged genocide against Christians in Nigeria. Saying that Nigerians of all faiths, including Muslims, are victims of terrorism, he pointed out that taking of lives unjustly as terrorists are doing is detestable and condemnable.

He canvassed continued unity among Muslims and commended MUSWEN for being in the vanguard of this.

He called on Muslims not to waver in showing love to all, irrespective of their faiths.
