The Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), His Eminence Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, CFR, mni, has expressed deep condolences to the family of former Governor of the defunct Gongola State and former Minister of Transportation, Alhaji Bamanga Muhammad Tukur, who died at the age of 90.
In a condolence message issued on Sunday and signed by
Prince Bashir Adefaka on behalf of
the Media Team of the Sultan of Sokoto, the royal father described the death of the elder statesman as a great loss to his family, Adamawa State, Nigeria and the wider community of public servants and statesmen who devoted their lives to the development of the country.
The Sultan recalled the deceased’s long and distinguished career in public service, business and politics, noting his significant contributions to national development.
He particularly acknowledged Tukur’s service as Governor of the defunct Gongola State, Minister of Transportation and National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), among other leadership positions he held during his illustrious career.
According to the Sultan, the late Bamanga Tukur was a prominent national figure whose decades of service and experience earned him a place among Nigeria’s respected elder statesmen.
He urged the deceased’s family, friends, colleagues and associates to take solace in the fact that Alhaji Tukur lived a long and impactful life dedicated to the service of humanity and his country.
The Sultan also extended his condolences to the Adamawa State Government and the people of the state, praying Allah, the Almighty, to grant them the strength and fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
He prayed Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the deceased, accept his good deeds and grant him Al-Jannatul Firdaus.
