No evil on earth could be more heinous than what some yet-to-be-identified assailants carried out on January 1, 2023 when they murdered my school mate, Bukunola, her husband, Kehinde Fatinoye and thereafter set their house ablaze in order to create an impression that they died in a mysterious fire incident.
Not done, the dastardly attackers kidnapped the couple’s first son, Ore Fatinoye, and a domestic staff as they fled the scene of the incident in Ibara area of Abeokuta, Ogun state capital.
The arsonists were said to have stealthily stormed Fatinoye’s house at Government Reserved Area after the couple had returned from the crossover church service, heralding the new year, gaining access to the couple’s room through the back doorway and killed both of them.
As at the time of writing this post, Ore Fatinoye, aged 25 has not been found either alive or dead.
The couple had last June lost one of their children, Enoch Oluwatunmise in a mysterious circumstance.
While the husband, Mr. Kehinde Fatinoye until his death, was a staff of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), his wife, Bukunola worked with the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) as a confidential secretary.
Bukunola was in my set at Lisabi Grammar School, Abeokuta where we finished together in 1988.
Since the bad news was broken on our WhatsApp Group on January 1, 2023, forcing all of us to start the new year on a sad note, life has not been the same for all of us on the platform with many wailing and sobbing on account of the couple’s misfortunes.
What was the Fatinoye’s offense that deserved this kind of egregious and ruinous attack on the entire family? Who is that maleficent soul who plotted this kind of despicable hellishness? Who on earth conceived this kind of vicious sacrilegiousness?
Although the police, through its spokesman in Ogun state, Abimbola Oyeyemi has confirmed that a suspect had been arrested, the police must unravel the mystery surrounding this demonic assassination.
I have not been myself since January 1, 2023. Bukky who celebrated her 50th birthday last June had sent Ore to me in Ibadan to assist in getting him admission for his Master’s degree at the University of Ibadan. Mr. Fatinoye spoke with me on why Ore must do his Master’s degree in UI after his first degree at Babcock University.
Bukky was one of the glamorous ladies in our set. She was so friendly and jocular with her bosom friend, Deola Sowunmi, dazzling us with various pictures of the last occasion they attended together. Olayinka Odeyemi Ogungbayi who always claims to be older will not allow anyone to disrespect the elders as all of us would laugh and enjoy camaraderie of attending Lisabi Grammar School.
The question is who did this evil to all of us? Who killed Bukky and her family? Who wiped away the entire family and burned their house? We are waiting for the police.
