The Muslim Rights Concern ( MURIC) has described the sealing up of the Falomo Mosque, Ikoyi, by the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LABSCA)
as outrageous and asked Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State to intervene.
LABSCA, a government parastatal under the Lagos State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, sealed up the Mosque Tuesday afternoon.
Reacting to this, MURIC in a statement by its Executive Director, Professor Lakin Akintola said “We find LABSCA’s action outrageous and provocative. How can a mosque which is scheduled for Id festival prayers tommorow morning be sealed today, Tuesday, 26th May, 2026?
“This is the height of insensitivity. Who is out to frustrate Lagos Muslims? Who is bent on stoking the fire of religious crisis in Lagos State? 24 hours to I’d al-kabiir prayers! The timing is curious.
“We demand immediate removal of the seal from our mosque. Every necessary document has been procured for the construction. We also call on His Excellency, Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, to intervene.”
