The Oladipo family has assured readers, advertisers, partners and other stakeholders of The Eagle Online that the digital news publication will continue operations following the death of its founder, Oladotun Samson Oladipo.
Oladipo died suddenly on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, leaving his family, colleagues and associates in deep mourning.
In a statement signed by Taiwo Oladipo on behalf of the Oladipo family and dated September 22, the family expressed appreciation to the readers, colleagues, friends, advertisers, partners and well-wishers who had reached out to them since the publisher’s death.
The family described Oladipo’s death as a devastating shock, saying it was still coming to terms with the magnitude of the loss.
According to the statement, Oladipo devoted a significant part of his life to journalism and founded The Eagle Online in 2012, subsequently building it into a respected digital news platform with a loyal readership, strong brand recognition and the confidence of advertisers and commercial partners.
The family said the late publisher regarded the platform as more than a business, describing it as a vehicle for responsible journalism and public service.
It said his commitment to the publication made it necessary to reassure its numerous stakeholders that The Eagle Online would continue to operate despite his death.
“Dotun had foresight to have put in place some form of a business continuity plan. That plan has now been activated and is being refined to sustain the publication in line with his vision,” the statement said.
The family acknowledged the trust that readers and other stakeholders had placed in the publication over the years, assuring them that efforts would be made to preserve Oladipo’s legacy while positioning the platform for continued growth and effective service to its audience.
It also assured advertisers and commercial partners that existing relationships and commitments remained important to the family and the publication.
“We look forward to your continued confidence and support as we navigate this transition,” the family said.
While appealing for continued prayers, understanding and support as it mourns, the family thanked everyone who had stood by the Oladipos and The Eagle Online since Oladipo’s passing.
“Dotun may have left us, but the work to which he devoted so much of his life will continue,” the family declared.
