NOA Named to Steering Committee of EU-Supported Migration Governance Project

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has been named a member of the steering committee for the “Support to Migration Governance in Nigeria” project funded by the European Union.

The project is being implemented by the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the Fundación para la Internacionalización de las Administraciones Públicas (FIAP).

The project, which will span 60 months, also aims to strengthen migration governance and management in Nigeria by enhancing policy implementation, building institutional capacity, promoting cross-border cooperation, and advancing victim-centred approaches.

The Project Steering Committee (PSC) is established to provide strategic oversight, ensure effective coordination among stakeholders, and guide the successful implementation of the action. The committee will be chaired by the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI) and co-chaired by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) and the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS).

Other notable members of the PSC include; Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning (MBEP), Ministry of Health, Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, Federal Ministry of Justice, Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Federal Ministry of Youth Development, Office of the National Security Advisor (ONSA), among others.
