The National Commission for Almajiri and Out-of-School Children (NACAOOSCE) has forged a strategic partnership with the University of Maiduguri to revitalize the Almajiri education system in Nigeria.
The collaboration is said a testament to the Commission’s commitment to harnessing expertise and resources to improve the lives of Almajiri children.
During an advocacy visit to the University’s Senate Annex Chamber, NACAOOSCE Executive Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sani Idris, expressed profound gratitude to President Bola Ahmad Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima for their unwavering commitment to addressing the challenges faced by Almajiri children.
Dr. Idris emphasized the importance of guiding and educating these children to prevent exploitation and ensure their integration into mainstream society.
The University of Maiduguri, represented by Professor Yakubu Mukhtar, Dean of Post Graduate School, pledged its support to NACAOOSCE, leveraging its research expertise and resources, particularly through the Centre for Trans-Saharan Studies.
The delegation, comprising Hon. Arc. Ibrahim Al-Mustapha Aliyu, Chairman of the House Committee on Alternate Education, and Hon. Aisha Jibril Dukku, former Minister of Education, welcomed the partnership as a crucial step towards transforming the Almajiri education system.
