The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the full restoration of its Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) after a temporary outage lasting about 96 hours.
In a statement, the Board said CAPS was fully restored on Sunday, 27 September 2026. It urged tertiary institutions to immediately accelerate their admission processes to recover the lost time and meet the deadlines agreed at the 2026 Policy Meeting on Admissions.
JAMB expressed regret over the inconvenience caused to candidates, institutions and other stakeholders. It attributed the disruption to an administrative challenge involving its hosting organisation and said it had worked with relevant service providers to restore the platform.
The Board reminded stakeholders of the admission timelines for the 2026/2027 academic session:
Public universities: on or before 31 October 2026
Private universities: on or before 30 November 2026
Other tertiary institutions: on or before 31 December 2026
All admissions are expected to be concluded by 31 December 2026.
Following the recent release of the 2026 NECO Senior School Certificate Examination results, JAMB particularly urged public universities to intensify efforts to meet the 31 October deadline. Private universities and other institutions were also called upon to work towards their respective cut-off dates.
Candidates who had been awaiting their NECO results were advised to immediately upload or verify them so their credentials are available for consideration. Those who have received admission offers were urged to accept them promptly.
JAMB assured institutions that it would match their accelerated pace by promptly considering and approving admission recommendations submitted through CAPS.
The Board also said it is putting in place medium- to long-term measures to strengthen the resilience and reliability of the platform and reduce dependence on any single hosting environment.
The Board thanked stakeholders for their patience and said lessons from the incident would be used to improve the overall admission experience.
