IESA greets Egbewole on appointment as UNILORIN Vice Chancellor

The Ilorin Emirate Staff Association(IESA), University of Ilorin has joined other stakeholders from within and outside the institution in congratulating the Vice-Chancellor designate of the University, Prof.Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, on his recent appointment.


The Chairman of the Association, Prof. Suleiman Funsho Ambali,in a statement signed by the Secretary-General, Abubakar Imam,described the emergence of the Professor of Jurisprudence and International Law as the Chief Executive of the nation’s most sought after University at this point in time as ordained.

The Association commended those it called “distinguished academics and resourceful administrators of Ilorin Emirate origin from within and outside the University who were not only super qualified for the position but also contested for it for the spirit of sportsmanship they demonstrated throughout the contest”, saying that the Association appreciated their patriotism and determination to serve,which in the first instance, propelled their applications for the exalted office.


Prof. Ambali described the incoming Vice-Chancellor “as our brother and ally ” with whom we had worked together towards strengthening the University, saying that he is a man who has also paid his dues.

While noting that it is only Allah who gives position to whoever He will, Prof. Ambali wished his colleagues who could not make it this time around well in their other future aspirations.

Prof. Ambali,who is a former Dean of the institution’s Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and one of the 13 shortlisted contestants,however, urged the incoming Vice-Chancellor to lead the University with the fear of God for it to maintain its leadership position among its peers.

The distinguished scholar urged members of the Association and their colleagues from other backgrounds to continue to see the University as theirs and must always worked very hard to ensure it continued to rise from grace to greatness.

While assuring Prof. Egbewole of the loyalty and cooperation of members of staff of the University from Ilorin Emirate to enable him succeed,the Association prayed Allah to guide the incoming Vice-Chancellor in the tasks ahead.
